Department: Fastec Racing
Role: CNC Machinist / Engineer
Jay is without doubt an engineer through and through. Having worked in the industry for over 20 years, we’re proud to have had him on board since 2017 here at Fastec Racing. Formerly a member of the Fastec Engineering team for a year back in 2015, Jay’s career has taken him all over, starting life as an Engineering Apprentice at 16, before taking on a role as Production Manager and even a stint with the MOD at Mildenhall.
Asked what bought his back to our business, Jay says: “The kind of work we do on the racing side is some of the most interesting work I’ve come across in 20 years of engineering. I also enjoy working with the people here at Fastec.”
Jay’s love of motorcycles started at school with his design teacher giving him his old Performance Bike magazines before he started to ride aged 10. From there Jay’s gone on to own a series of Yamaha road bikes and now rides a Honda CBR900 RR.
And what does the future hold for him? “I’m going to sit in Danny’s seat” he laughed.
Outside of work, Jay works as an on-call firefighter in Newmarket and Elmswell, enjoys mountain biking, playing the guitar (badly he says), Thai Boxing and going to the gym. Having also played in a band for the last 10 years and a love for real ales, he’s definitely a busy part of our team.
